Our baby Colin

Colin is doing well. We love holding him and he loves being held. We are still waiting for a bowel movement so that he can try some formula. The doctor is very insistent about making sure everything is working. Colin's belly button is healing well. Now that his Anderson tube is out,Colin like to suck on his pacifier. We got to give him a bath the Friday night with the nurse watching and giving us tips. Colin still does not like baths. He is sweet little boy who we can't wait to get home and let him meet his extended family.

update on our baby boy

I wish I had more pictures to post but Brian has the camera. Colin is doing terrifically. He has lost a little weight (down to 4lbs 6 oz) but that's normal for babies I am told. The doctor heard some small bowel sounds yesterday which is wonderful news. I got to hold Colin on Thursday before we had to head back to St George. Brian took a video and posted it on Facebook. It was great to hold him. He is so small and fragile you feel like you may drop him if you move to much. I loved holding Colin. Brian got to hold him yesterday. Yesterday was also the first day that Colin cried. I so wish I had been there. Brian told me that the doctors are pleased with Colin's progress. We are praying that Colin will keep amazing his doctors and nurses and be home before the 4th of July.

Colin's third day

Colin made it through surgery today with flying colors. They took him in earlier than we expected but we got to see him beforehand. The surgeon was so nice and did a wonderful job of explaining what he would be doing during the surgery. It seemed like we had just given a kiss goodbye before the surgeon came out and said he was finished. Colin now has a designer bellybutton but we don't get to see it until Friday when all the bandages come off. The nurses all say he is the sweetest cutest little one. They have been so kind in telling us all about what to expect and what they are doing to help Colin recover. I got to help take Colin's temperature twice today. We are excited to go back and see him tomorrow.

He's Here!

Yesterday we got a phone call we were expecting but not quite so soon. Our little boy arrived in the world at 5:06 AM on June 3, 2012. He decided to come about a month early. He was 4 lbs 10 oz and 16 1/2 inches long. Pretty good for being early. The doctors transported him over to Primary Children right after his birth so they could treat him for Gastroschisis. The doctors were able to reintroduce the majority of intestines back into his abdomen today and he goes to surgery tomorrow afternoon to finish up and close the abdomen. We hurried to pack a suitcase and finish up some last minute church calling requirement and headed up to Salt Lake City. We didn't get to see the baby until today because of legal issues. We think he is the cutest baby in the world. We are naming him Colin Robert.
